The Weeping Saviour

Lyrics

Alas! and did my Savior bleed,
And did my Sov’reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?

Chorus:

O come, sinner, you will hear
The Savior say, ‘Weep not for me.’
See the Savior on the cross!
O sinner, hear Him cry,
‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabacthani.’

Was it for crimes that I had done,
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity, grace unknown,
And love beyond degree!

(Chorus)
