Shades of Night

Lyrics

The shades of night are drawing near,
Life’s sun so fast is passing by;
We soon death’s river o’er must steer,
For all life lives, but once, then dies.

Chorus:

O shades of night so soon pass o’er
And let the light of heaven shine,
That we in realms of bliss may soar,
And then the praise shall all be Thine.

Sure is the road that leads to death,
And soon our earthly joys will fly,
The life of man is short at best,
And pleasures only bloom to die.

(Chorus)
